1. Video scenes

1) Cut on the left side

2) Cut on the right side

3) Cut on the back

4) Video after cutting

2. Position of the camera

Camera perspective 1.1 is for the cut on the right side

Camera perspective 1.2 is for the cut on the left side

Please take note of the slightly slanted angle. This is important, so the trimmer does not cover up the scene.

This camera perspective is for the back cut.

Please use a tripod for the camera or some other way to make it 100% fixed so the camera does not move at all.

3. Distance

Should be close up, and not far away

4. Settings/blades of the trimmer

NOTE: DO NOT USE THE STANDARD BLADE.

In the package are two extra blades included apart from the standard one. Which one to choose depends on your current hair length. Please send us a picture via Fiverr of your hair and we will send you the correct settings.

Here is a video of me exchanging the blades as an EXAMPLE from the standard one to the smaller, triangular blade:

Please make sure the trimmer is at the highest level, 7000 RPM. Take a look at the video.

5. Angle of the trimmer to the scalp

For the side cuts the trimmer is held in a 90° angle/perpendicular angle to the scalp DURING THE ENTIRE MOVEMENT like on the picture.

If the clipper is held even slightly diagonally, the clipper won’t work. It not cut a fade but rather just 0mm. Please make sure it is exactly perpendicular to your head during the entire movement, like on the picture on the right side.

We would prefer if you have somebody else make the cut for you. That way he or she can make sure that the clipper is 100% vertical to the head during the entire cut.

6. Your hair length

Your hair on the sides should optimally have a length of 8-12mm. If you hair is longer than ~ 12 mm please trim it down before the haircut. You can use the 12 mm attachment. Minimum length is like this:

7. The cut itself (IMPORTANT)

Here are 5 real life examples of people cutting the hair. Sometimes the camera perpespective is not perfect, but you can understand the overal concept of the cut itself.

7.1 Sidecuts

The movement of the clipper should be one straight line from the start of the hair towards the back of the head for the sidecuts. Make sure you exert A LITTLE BIT of extra pressure, so the trimmer actually cuts the hair.

You can have somebody else make the cut for you.

Here is an animation of how it should look like:

Here is a real life example. Your video should look exactly like this:

You can basically model this movement. The pressure exerted should be similar to the one in the video - if it's too much pressure the fade won't be cut, so it's important you take note of this as well.

NOTE: During the cut the longer part of the blade should be above, like this:

One more example

The resulting sides after the one main cut should ROUGHLY look like this.

7.2 Backcut

It should be one cut this direction, roughly that length. There is no need to go further away.

Camera Perspective

8. Cutting the remaining side hair after the side cuts

After you are done with the left side cut and the right side cut you have to cut the remaining hair below the line.

For that you can use the settings as in the picture on the right. Standard blade with level to the highest level.

Just go over the bluely marked hair until it's gone.

9. After Haircut pictures

This will be basically 3-6 pictures from the after hair cut right side, back side and left side.
It is very important that the angle of the camera, the lightning of the room and the angle of the head is EXACTLY the same as it was in the cutting scene.

That means for example, the pictures from the left side should be taken from the exact same camera angle, same lightning and same angle of the head as it was in the scene. The same applies for right and back pictures. We know sometimes this cannot be done 100% accurate and therefore, we are asking to take a few pictures (3-6) from slightly changed angles so we can pick the best one.

Please see below an example:

Here is the cutting scene:

And here is the final haircut in the same position:

Please note that the lightning, the angle of the camera and the angle of the head is exactly the same.

10. Lightning

When filming a haircut the lightning is extremely important. It should not be too dim but also not overexposed/overly bright.

The lightning in the right picture would be perfect:

11. Location

Location will be your home, your living room or your bathroom. The decision will be up to you and will depend on whatever place has the better and clearer lightning, refer to point 2. Please do not go to a barbershop or anywhere which does not look like home.

Conclusion

That's it with the guide. I hope you were able to understand everything. In case you have any questions you are more than welcome to send me the question via Fiverr and I will do my best to reply to everything.

If you are not sure about specific things regarding the cut, please make sure to ask before as for the left and right side cuts you only got "one chance" and can't do a retake ;)
